This post is going to be about me. While objectively the most interesting subject in the world, your flawed subjective perception may not view my issues as being too terribly interesting. Just a disclaimer.
Now I had the whole moral nihilist phase. And by phase, I mean it was the phase in which I…

The concept of home is oft mistaken for a building in which one lives. Home, according to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, “home is whenever I’m with you.” The idea can be understood in many different ways. In a recent visit to Belmont Abbey, I experienced one of the closest things to home I could imagine.
As I pulled off of exit 26, I saw the college sign, gazed up at the cross taking the position at the head of the basilica. It was beautiful. I pulled in the parking lot, opened my door, breathed the fresh, mountain, Catholic air; I was home.
I’ve already applied to the Abbey and have been accepted. I await for the money to make my deposit, and am in the process of writing scholarship essays for the school. The Abbey is the only college I’ve applied to, and is the only one I plan on applying to: I’ve wanted to go there since my Sophomore year.
Money shouldn’t be a problem - and if it is, I wouldn’t mind paying for it. It’s a lot, but it’s well over worth it for me. The atmosphere, the classes, the people, the setting, the view: it’s all encompassed as amazing.
Charlie and Shelby (his girlfriend) gave me a tour of the campus, and Nathan (his suite-mate) and Justin (a friend of their’s) tagged along. Shawty even showed up as well. I went on a Sunday, which meant that a few of the buildings were closed, but it wasn’t so bad. I still plan to go up at least ten more times (I’m dedicated).
The idea of being in MY perfect place next year is simply unfathomable currently, and I can’t stop thinking about how wonderful it will be, being surrounded by great students, monks, and staff of the perfect college for me.
In short, I’m extremely excited for next year, and wish high school would end…I’m ready to go back home.
